The Scottish Ethnic Minorities Lawyers Association (SEMLA) and Diversity+ hosted a celebration of South Asian Heritage Month with the Law Society of Scotland on 21 August 2025. Inspired by this year's theme of "Roots to Routes", this hybrid event explored diverse routes into the legal profession and how cultural roots and heritage may have influenced individual career journeys. There were insightful contributions in the panel session chaired by the Law Society of Scotland's Lindsay Jack from Amanullah Ahmadzai, Bilaal Shabbir and Forida Begum. SEMLA's Rupa Mooker gave a note of thanks setting out her aspirations for the future.

Here is a link to a post by Naeema Sajid, Founder of Diversity+ and former committee member of SEMLA, about the key takeaways from the event: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/naeema-yaqoob-sajid_sahm-activity-7365380647688757248-Lm1y?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAKuAiYBihvb6KRlKeOksLGS3zuIudEnIqI
